SHAZAM! Finally done, lol. Scanner, as usual, killed most of the shading.
Its been a while since I've drawn any Halo stuffs or did any real pencil drawings so I said "What the hey" and got to work...two months later xD
I used a reference, of course. Some really amazing Halo Wars picture, I loved it to death. Took...8 hours maybe? I dunno. I just hacked away at it little by little for the longest time :S
Holy schnap...! SERIOUSLY awesome shading!!! From the thumb my first impression was that maybe it was just a black and white filtered version of a render of a Halo Wars Spartan II with the contrast pumped up, but heck no. Impressive accuracy, incredible depth in lighting. Albiet directly referenced from a stock image, that image was a CGI render. It's no small task to translate that into a greyscale sketch. And I haven't ever seen somebody do it this well IMO.

With all the updates DA keeps doing, I wish they'd put some sort of feature that let you feature one deviation from somebody else for a period of time. Like how you can mark your personal fav out of your gallery and display it. This would certainly occupy that spot for a time.
Sorry if that sounds like a bunch of fluff. I get tired of seeing fanart that's off model/not-so-good in other ways or Halo 3 screen-caps, this just blew my mind when I brought it up.

that is so friggin amazing -stares at it- Don't let my older brother see that... he'd steal it in a heart beat... like that one master chief that I drew.
but seriously that is really good. I know I couldn't have done that.

DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
So after much thought I have decided I would host a contest! The theme is changing on the seasons, as we are here in the UK. This will be a long running contest so that you will have time to create something really spectacular
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This news article features five deviants who took part in Comment Month through commenting on the deviations that were submitted.
Please give your time to this article and to write constructive comments so that you make a true difference to the artists featured here. Although not all may be underappreciated, their efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
